Description
Anubias Butterfly is a green Anubias barteri cultivar with broad, glossy leaves shaped like butterfly wings. It is not variegated: its leaves stay plain green, unlike white-marbled types such as Pinto or Snow White. It grows slowly and is as easy as any Anubias: low to moderate light, no CO₂ and the rhizome tied to wood or rock. It is imported to order and ships in about 15 days.
What you get: one rhizome plant with about 7–10 leaves, similar to the photo.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Anubias Butterfly easy to grow?
Yes – Anubias Butterfly is a hardy, slow-growing Anubias that thrives in low light without CO₂.
How do I plant it?
Never bury the rhizome. Attach it to driftwood or rock with thread or aquarium-safe glue; the roots grip on their own.
Is it safe for shrimp and fish?
Yes. Anubias Butterfly is safe for shrimp and fish in the aquarium, and it suits shrimp tanks and community tanks. Like all Anubias, its leaves contain calcium oxalate, so do not let cats, dogs or other pets eat trimmed leaves.
When will my pre-order ship?
About 15 days after you order. It is then hand-packed and sent by courier anywhere in India for a flat ₹99, free on orders of ₹999 or more. If it arrives dead, send one continuous unboxing video within 4 hours of delivery on WhatsApp or email and we refund or replace it.
Why are Anubias so expensive?
Mostly because they grow slowly. A typical Anubias adds one new leaf every two to three weeks, so a nursery needs many months to raise a full, saleable plant. Butterfly is also imported to order, which adds to its price. Our Surat-grown Anubias start at ₹90.
Does Anubias grow quickly?
No. Anubias is one of the slowest aquarium plants, usually adding one new leaf every two to three weeks without CO₂. Butterfly is no exception. Strong light alone will not speed it up much; it mostly grows algae on the leaves. Keep light low to moderate and read how fast Anubias grows for realistic timelines.
What is the rarest Anubias?
Variegated cultivars such as Marble, Panda and Stardust are among the rarest Anubias sold in India. They are hard to find and carry some of the highest prices. There is no official ranking, and a cultivar becomes less rare once it is mass-produced by tissue culture. Butterfly has plain green leaves and costs far less than these. See our rare Anubias guide for prices.
Can Anubias live floating?
Yes. Anubias takes nutrients from the water through its leaves and roots, so a floating plant survives and keeps growing slowly. It is not ideal, though. It drifts, gets pulled into filter intakes and sits close to the light, where its leaves collect algae. For a tidy tank, tie or glue the rhizome to wood or rock: see how to attach Anubias.
