No. Anubias ‘Coffeefolia’ grows well with no CO₂ and only low to moderate light. Added CO₂ can speed up its slow growth a little, but bright light mostly grows algae on the leaves, so keep it in low light or partial shade.

Never bury the rhizome. Attach Anubias ‘Coffeefolia’ to driftwood or rock with cotton thread or aquarium-safe super-glue gel, leaving the rhizome exposed — its roots grip the surface within a few weeks.

Anubias ‘Coffeefolia’ usually grows to about 15–25 cm tall. It spreads sideways very slowly, as the rhizome lengthens only a few centimetres a year. Like all Anubias, its leaves contain calcium oxalate, so keep trimmings away from cats, dogs and other pets that may chew them. The only risk is to the plant: large cichlids such as Oscars and flowerhorns, silver dollars and mature common plecos can shred it, and goldfish may nibble it.
