Frequently Asked Questions

Why do exotic Anubias cost more than regular Anubias? They are rarer cultivars, and most grow more slowly than standard green Anubias, the variegated ones especially. Each plant takes longer to raise, so fewer are available.
Will the variegation stay as the plant grows, or fade? The pattern usually carries on into new leaves, but it varies from leaf to leaf and some new leaves come out greener than others. That variation is natural and can't be controlled. Low to moderate, steady light gives the best results; strong light does not add pattern and mostly grows algae on the pale areas.
Do exotic cultivars need different care from standard Anubias? The basics are the same: low to moderate light, no CO2, and the rhizome tied or glued to wood or rock, never buried. Variegated cultivars grow more slowly and recover from damage more slowly, so stable water conditions matter more.
