Description
Bacopa monnieri is a hardy, upright stem plant with thick, succulent oval leaves arranged in neat pairs up a sturdy stem. One of the most beginner-friendly plants in the hobby, Bacopa monnieri grows slowly and tidily, making it ideal for the midground and background of low-tech planted tanks and a dependable first stem plant.
Bacopa monnieri tolerates a very wide range of conditions, from low light to bright, and grows with or without CO₂, which is why it is so forgiving. Plant Bacopa monnieri in the substrate as single stems spaced a little apart, dose a basic fertiliser, and trim and replant the tops as it reaches the surface to build a fuller stand.
Slow, sturdy and almost indestructible, Bacopa monnieri is perfect for beginners, low-tech keepers and community or betta tanks where fussier plants struggle. Its firm leaves resist nibbling, so add Bacopa monnieri for easy, upright green structure.
