Vallisneria is a classic ribbon-like background plant that has been an aquarium staple for decades — for good reason. It grows quickly, tolerates almost any water condition, and sends out runners to fill your background over time. Excellent for beginners, breeding tanks (fry love hiding in the strands), and anyone who wants fast, low-maintenance greenery. Plant the crown just above substrate level — burying it will cause rot.
