Java Moss (Taxiphyllum barbieri) is the classic, near-indestructible aquarium moss – the go-to choice for carpets, moss walls, and softening hardscape. It attaches to wood, rock and mesh, needs no substrate, and thrives in almost any freshwater tank, making it perfect for beginners, shrimp keepers, and breeding setups where fry need cover.

Care couldn’t be simpler: tie or spread a thin layer over your surface and trim occasionally to keep it tidy. It grows in low light without CO2, though brighter light and CO2 produce denser, more compact growth.
