Anubias Nana (Anubias barteri var. nana) is a cornerstone of aquascaping, beloved for its resilience and classic beauty. Originating from Cameroon, this variety produces dense clumps of oval, leathery leaves that grow close to its rhizome, creating a bushy appearance.
Its slow growth makes it easy to maintain and highly resistant to algae when kept in shaded areas. Unlike stem plants, Nana does not require planting in substrate. Instead, it attaches naturally to wood, stone, or decorations. The rhizome must remain exposed above the substrate to avoid rotting.
Care Requirements:
Lighting: Low to moderate
Temperature: 22–28 °C
pH: 6.0–7.5
COâ‚‚: Not required, but accelerates growth
Propagation: Rhizome division
Anubias Nana is highly adaptable and looks good in nearly any aquascape. From community tanks to shrimp setups, it provides shade, shelter, and long-lasting greenery.
