Anubias Nana Petite is a rare, compact variety of the popular Anubias Nana, prized for its miniature size and decorative appeal. Originally cultivated through selective breeding, Nana Petite has become a favorite among aquascapers who design intricate layouts, especially in nano aquariums where space is limited. Its leaves are small, rounded, and dark green, growing densely from a short rhizome, creating a lush carpeting or bush-like effect when grouped.
Like all Anubias, Nana Petite is extremely hardy and thrives under low-light conditions, making it suitable even for beginners. Its small leaves also resist algae better than larger species if placed in shaded spots. The plant should never be buried in substrate; instead, it attaches naturally to driftwood, lava rock, or other hardscape.
Care Requirements:
Lighting: Low to moderate; avoids algae best in shaded or indirect light
Temperature: 22–28 °C (72–82 °F)
pH Range: 6.0–7.5
COâ‚‚: Optional; improves growth density but not required
Propagation: Rhizome division, best when plants are well established
Because of its small size, Anubias Nana Petite is often used as a foreground or accent plant in larger aquascapes. In nano aquariums, it can serve as a main focal point, while in shrimp tanks it provides shelter and surfaces for biofilm. Its beauty, resilience, and versatility make it one of the most prized Anubias varieties available.
